Simple drill adapter for winding yarn cones. Any royal-compatible yarn cones should fit this.
I usually have access to a proper cone winder, but when I don't, this is a useful alternative for quickly producing a yarn cone. It's not as good as a proper yarn winder, but it's faster to print and requires no extra hardware (except for the drill of course).
The hex bit at the top is 10mm wide, this is around the maximum that my small electric drill can handle.
Dimensions & Cone types
This winder should work with most royal-compatible yarn cones. I've tested it with the following models (all diameters are inner diameters of the cones). As long as your cones look something like this, they should work.

Original cone for brother winder (picture: red):
Diameter top: 34.5mm
Diameter bottom: 46.5mm
Cone height: 100.1mm
--> Calculated half angle: 3.43
Royal-style cone by yasmin_k (also used by pandel's motorized yarn winder, picture: pink):
https://www.printables.com/model/690302-yarn-cone-winder-v2-manual-or-motorized
Diameter top: 35mm
Diameter bottom: 47.9mm
Cone height: 104mm
--> Calculated half angle: 3.55
Royal-style cone by SuziePerth (picture: green, yellow, blue):
Diameter top: 39.5
Diameter bottom: 46
Cone height: 78mm (total height is 99, but the angle is 0 in the last 21mm)
--> Calculated half angle: 2.39
Printing
What I used:
PLA
.2mm layers
2 wall loops & 15% gyroid infill for the main body
4 wall loops & 50% gyroid infill for the hexagonal stem, starting at 81 mm height (using a Height Range Modifier)
Modifications
This is an OpenSCAD model, so you can play around with it and change the dimensions or shape if you like. It uses the BOSL2 library, so you'll need to install this to work with the model.
