The original design for this plotter has the belts at front and the steppers at the rear. This is a little annoying for a few reasons:
The belts are in the way
The belts are more likely to be damaged
The control box can be hard to reach
This remix slightly changes the layout of the belts on the X gantry to allow the whole gantry to be reversed.
The simplest way I could see to do this was to stack the idlers, instead of offsetting them, this results in the belts no longer being totally straight in in every direction but from my testing so far this does not really matter.
Assembly
(assumes you have an already built plotter)
Disconnect the belts from the X carriage.
Remove the old mounts.
flip the gantry so the pen holder is at the back (now the front)
Install the idlers according to which side of each belt is engaging with them (i.e. the teeth with the toothed idler). Remember to install the small washer between the idlers.
Connect and tighten up the belts again.
Possibly modify the control software or wiring to invert the axis (I rebuilt the whole machine while making this mod, so I'm not sure if I would have had to change anything here, but I assume everything is inverted from the original wiring).
A STEP file is included in case anyone can figure out how to re-align the idlers slightly to keep all the belts straight.
