Voopoo Drag X / S Side Panel Replacement (3 Texture Variants)

The Problem:
The fake leather on your Voopoo Drag X / S side panel is peeling, bubbling, or just worn out. It looks ugly and makes the mod slippery.

The Solution:
A durable 3D‑printed drop‑in replacement that never wears down, resists sweat, and gives your mod a fresh custom look. This pack includes 3 different STL files, each with a unique surface texture – choose the one that fits your style.

3 Texture Options (included):
• Mesh A – Wood: Simulated wood grain pattern for a natural, warm feel.
• Mesh B – Knurling: Classic diamond knurling – aggressive grip, perfect for sweaty hands.
• Mesh C – Weave: Woven/basket texture – moderate relief, looks elegant and feels comfortable.

Important – Fit over Form:
I designed these panels to sit flush with the original mod body – no bulging, no gaps. To achieve that, the texture depth is deliberately subtle (the panels are thin). They may not look as deep as some other prints, but they fit perfectly and don't stick out. Functionality and seamless integration come first.

No Glue Needed – Friction Fit:
Thanks to the curved shape and the natural stiffness of the plastic, the panel stays firmly in place without any adhesive. Just press it into the recess – the tension holds it securely. No tape, no glue, no mess. If you ever want to swap textures, you can pop it out and replace it in seconds.

Installation:

1. Carefully peel off the old leather panel using a plastic spudger or your fingernail. Work slowly to avoid damaging the recess.

2. Clean the cavity with isopropyl alcohol to remove any leftover glue residue and dust. Let it dry.

3. Simply press the new printed panel into the slot – it will snap into place with a snug friction fit.

Printing Recommendations:
• Material: For the best results, I printed mine with Keliidi Wood PLA – it adds a natural matte finish, slight wood‑like grain, and just the right amount of surface roughness. This filament makes the textures (especially Wood and Weave) pop, while hiding layer lines beautifully. PETG, ABS, or ASA also work well if you need more heat resistance. PLA Silk is an option for a shiny look, but avoid leaving it in a hot car.
• Layer height: 0.16 mm for cleaner texture, or 0.2 mm for speed.
• Orientation: Print with the textured face up – no supports needed.
• Infill: 100% – this part is thin and must stay rigid to hold its curved shape and maintain the friction fit. Lower infill may make it too flexible.
• Note on thickness: The model is intentionally thin to stay flush – do not scale it. Print as is.

Чуть-чуть адаптировал модель автора под DRAG X (у меня оригинальная модель от S не села как надо), добавил текстур, чтобы удобнее было держать и девайс не скользил. В целом, все видно по фото (было-стало). Текстуры не такие яркие, как на модели, но они максимально утончены и подогнаны под диаметр самой базы. Мне показалось, что так эстетичнее. Печатал PLA под дерево (фото). Вышло хорошо, единственное - печать таким пластиком, как мне показалось,  делает модель чуть толще, чем если бы печатал обычным PLA или PETG.
