Features:
I made this strip holder to fix it on my mask frame, which has a magnetic base. The magnets keep the unit in place while sliding from one frame to another.
The little magnets in the slider frame and the bridge help to find the exact position of each frame in the dark.
The bottom of the paper strip carrier is 0.6 mm thick, so the focus will be the same as on the mask frame's base if you f-stop your lens one step closer. At least you don't have to remove the mask frame for taking test strips, especially when you have a heavy mask frame.
The carrier is made for 240x42 mm strips. So you can cut 24x30.5 cm (9.5x12") paper at the short side easily in single stripes. It allows you to make five frames with 45x40 mm.
Usage:
Place the stripes in the carrier and put the frame on it. Then slide it underneath the shaders into the bridge (the side where the bridge has the gaps) until the magnet stops it at the first frame. Now expose each frame with the desired times or filters. If you are done, just pull it out and pop out the paper from the bottom side.
Assembly:
I recommend gluing the magnets with a drop of superglue into the holes. The bridge is made for six magnets, but you can use fewer if it gets attracted too much to the base. Please note the single small magnet in the bridge.
Additional material:
6 neodymium magnets 4x1.5 mm (round)
6 neodymium magnets 10x3 mm (round)
Hints:
The unit holds only on magnetic bases, but the most mask frames will have that. Excessive on-and-off switching of the light source for test strips can wear out your bulb early, especially halogen bulbs. Sick of that, I converted my Durst M601 to LED.
