I noticed that the calibration tower from Adam L's CaliCross kind of looked like the Sears Tower, so I decided to make one in earnest.
The model is highly simplified and is not proportioned to scale.
Each of the nine vertical segments that comprise the tower are 7x7mm, culminating in a 21x21mm maximum cross-section. The height of each segment (sans duplicates) is marked upon the base, but the 5mm thickness of the 35x35mm base must be considered when measuring those dimensions. The tallest section rises 110mm, roughly analogous to the 110 floors of the real tower.
The formula to find the error (probably shrinkage) between the model and your print is as follows:
((real_measurement / ideal_measurement) - 1) * 100 = %_error
Slicers like OrcaSlicer and Bambu Studio save you a step by taking the product of
(real_measurement / ideal_measurement) * 100
all by itself. Simply plug it into your filament profile under "filament shrinkage compensation."
GrandpaCAD has a very handy web calculator for this purpose.
