NOTE: The digital photos follow this order from top to bottom ( Large, Medium, Low Profile (LP) ). Scaling of the large variant is a bit off so I included some real life photos as well.
New V2 Models released. Renamed the original grip to Low Profile (LP) and added 2 more variants inspired by KONKR Pocket FIT design. Tested these for about 1 month given the last fusion360 modification states around late September. The 2 new variants are built on Low Profile (LP) design's base, just slight modifications to the handles portion, width, and height. No changes were made to the Low Profile (LP) model.
Both new medium and large variants were designed around modern gaming (analog centric gameplay) while the original Low Profile was more of a catch all solution but in a smaller package. D-pad gaming is still viable in all variants.
Large dimensions: 224.9L × 66.3H × 42.9D mm
Medium Dimensions: 220.7L × 66.3H × 40.9D mm
Low profile: 220.5L × 55.3H × 40.7D mm
Print with handle bottom placed flat on plate. Supports needed for both medium and large variants. No supports needed for Low Profile variants.
As of right now, these 2 new versions are the definitive versions of my Retroid Pocket 5 grip. I do not plan nor see any reason to continue modifying these versions as I've no issues with them while playing in bed, couch, chair, etc. No tpu variant will be released as it would require a full redesign to get the same type of secure fit. Results vary based on scaling for tpu as well.
All CAD models uploaded expect for the medium variant as I accidentally overwrote it when designing the larger grip. Luckily I still had the medium textured 3mf file on my pc so no smooth variant or cad file for that will be released. It is also slightly less refined compared to the other versions when comparing the digital photos.
Same process to install on the Retroid Pocket 5 as the original Low Profile (LP) version (see required and photos)08/27/26Currently working on the TPU variant but only had enough for 1 prototype, will upload if it ever clamps correctly.
not sure why the photos seem low-quality here but it is what it is...
Saw some grips online, didn't like them so i just made my own. Original design was a vertical clamp (top and bottom, similar to OEM grip) but getting consecutive perfect runs was not guaranteed so I swapped it out for this type of clamp design (sides and bottom, u shape). You simply just push the device in and it secures. You'll have to pull the device out vertically via one of the consoles top corners. With felt installed your device should not scratch (easily at least) and it shouldn't take crazy force. Screen protectors are no issue as the actual clamp is on the chamfered edge rather than the devices front.
Will post cad files in a couple months as always.
REQUIRED for non-tpu filaments
You will need felt fabric as the device as without it it'll be a bit loose. You can scale down the model too by about 1% but It will 100% scratch your device when removing as I've tried already (yes, indent/deep type scratch not cosmetic).
see photos for felt positioning if needed
I used this since i already had them;

These are cheaper and look similar so hopefully these work too;

Print with flat side facing down on the plate, no supports needed. Let cool before removing else you may warp a portion of the bottom when removing. I print using 0.3 profiles so bear that in mind. Filament usage should be under 70 grams per print, around 1 Hr. print time with 0.3 nozzle.
Provided a tolerance test file but it really only saves 17grams of filament at my 0.3 settings so maybe more or less for other sizes. I added it regardless though.
