Description

This is my first ever original design, so feedback is very welcome. If something doesn't fit, doesn't print cleanly, or could be modelled better, please let me know! All feedback and criticism is welcome! This model is released under CC0 and is in the public domain. You do not need my permission, you do not need to credit me, and there are no conditions attached. Copy it, sell prints of it, use it commercially, or modify it however you like, all I ask is that you consider sharing any variants with the community!

SureClick Autoinjector Travel Case

A hinged hard case for the Amgen SureClick autoinjector, so your pen is protected in a handbag, backpack or suitcase instead of rolling around loose or in a flimsy box that it comes in. The contoured cradle holds the injector by its barrel and flange and locks it in place, the lid attaches with separate printed hinges, and snap clips keep it closed in transit. No screws, no glue and no metal hardware. This also acts as a great temporary sharps container and has accommodates the pen both before and after it has been used.

Fits the SureClick device used for Enbrel (etanercept), Repatha (evolocumab), Aimovig (erenumab) and Amjevita / Amgevita (adalimumab).

Features

  • Contoured cradle shaped to the SureClick body so the pen cannot rattle, roll or press against its own trigger

  • Fully printed hinges, so no screws or metal hardware are required

  • Optional easy open hinge set on its own plate, allowing the box to be easily opened and closed against the edge of a table or other surface.

  • Snap clips hold the lid closed in a bag

  • Cradle is a separate part, so it can be printed in TPU for grip and shock absorption while the shell stays rigid

  • Five ready to slice plates in the 3MF: Base, Injector Holder, Hinge & Clips, Lid, Easy Open Hinges

Print settings

  • Material: PLA or PETG and TPU (optional) for the shell and hinges.

    • TPU is recommended for the injector base that the pen sits on when laying down, but other materials work just fine.

  • You may need to put a support blocker in the lid, there is some funky business with the text components.

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm

  • Infill: 20%

  • Supports: on for the base and hinge plates.

  • Orientation: as arranged on the plates

Some ideas for future iterations:

  • Resizing the cradle for other injectors such as Humira, Dupixent, EpiPen or insulin pens

  • A two or four bay version for people travelling with a month of doses

  • An insulated or double walled variant

  • A lid with a label plate, or a high contrast or Braille version

  • Improvements to the hinges to make them more accessible for chronic arthritis. I feel like my extended hinges aren't good enough. This is also try with the hinge to raise the pen out of the box.

If you make a modified version, please post it as its own model rather than only describing it in the comments, so other people can find and print it. A link below would be appreciated as well.
