It looks like a standard wand, but say the magic words & watch it rise on its own in your hand. If you are not careful, it might just jump out of your hand!

Two sections. Total of 235 mm long, with no supports required to print.

Assembly

  1. Use the 3MF files to print;

  2. Add a small amount of glue to join both wand ends together;

  3. Using a 1 to 1.5 mm diameter black elastic cord, tie one end to an end cap using a knot. Trim away any excess cord from the knot;

  4. Feed the other loose end of the cord into the wand.  Push the cord through enough so that it sticks out past the opposite end of the wand, then pull on the cord so that the cap/knot end joins with the top end of the wand;

  5. Keeping the cap/knot end against the top end of the wand, cut the opposite end of the loose cord at the full length of the wand, plus an extra 10 mm.  Make sure not to stretch the cord before you cut it;

  6. Tie the loose cord end onto the other cap with a knot & trim away any excess cord;

  7. If you did it right, the cord should be stretched slightly, just enough to have both caps sit snugly against the wand ends.  The caps should not be dangling loose at the ends of the wand;

  8. Add a bit of glue at both cord/cap connections to prevent the cord from getting undone.  Be careful not to get any glue on the inside walls of the wand.

How to use

  1. Grasp one of the end caps using the handpit between your index finger & thumb.  You will notice that there is a slight lip on the caps that extend past the main wand body to facilitate gripping;

  2. While keeping your grip on the cap, swing the wand body by 180 degrees while pulling down on the wand until the other end of the wand reaches near the top of your hand.  Try to keep the cord out of view of the audience while doing this.  The wand will now be under tension & will have a tendency to want to move upwards. If you did this step right, it should look something like the photo below:

  3. While holding the wand, slowly release it so that it rises slowly upwards.  Don't release the button while doing this; otherwise, you will lose the rising force of the elastic cord.  Continue raising it until the wand is almost all the way up, then grab the wand with your other hand & let go of the end cap.

  4. It will take a bit of practice to make the trick look realistic.

Have fun!
