Electrolyser
WARNING :-
ELECTROLYSIS CAN PRODUCE TOXIC GAS AND CORROSIVE CHEMICALS SO BEFORE DOING ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HARM YOU OR YOUR FAMILY RESEARCH PROPERLY AND FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE GETTING YOURSELF INTO BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ELECTROLYSIS.
This is an electrolyser that can be used to produce chemicals through the process of electrolysis. Depending on the filament used some chemicals can melt through the plastic so be careful.
Filaments That Should be used :-
Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)
Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK)
Polypropylene (PP)
Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) *{NOTE: THIS IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE OTHER 3 ABOVE SO BE WARNED}
Filament I Used :- Polylactic Acid (PLA) *{NOTE: IT DISSOLVES IN STRONG BASE, SO UMM BE CAREFUL}
Parts And Quantities required :-
Electrolyser Vessel (1 Of it has to be printed.NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE TOP CAPS And be careful make a test print and see what is a snug fit for you on your printer there is a 0.2,0.2 mm tolerance on my design but test it on your printer with a small print before attempting this and if 0.2,0.2 mm is too tight then edit the .step files for the prints)
Top Cap (2 of them have to be printed. Note these caps are quite loose on purpose so as to not explode if you are using high voltage 12-24V DC and high current 1-2A or above, you can but i am not recommending it use teflon tape to tighten the stopper and the top caps or edit the .step file not recommended)
Gas Stopper (2 of them have to be printed. The warning and all is written next to the Top Caps)
Other Non-3D Printed Parts :-
Electrodes (Whatever you use i use Graphite pencil lead for 2mm mechanical pencils or you can use anything else that is conductive but be aware of the chemistry going on before attempting anything dangerous)
Electrolyte (this is the most important part of it so be careful understand what gas is going to be produced what base, acid or salt is going to be produced before even attempting it)
Membrane (The part that makes an electrolytic cell an electrolytic cell, i use cotton but you can use anything else that allows electricity to pass but the liquids cannot mix)
Power Source (A battery a wall adaptor a phone charger or if you have it a lab bench power supply)
Connecting Wires (I just use alligator clips so depending on what you have on hand just be careful that only your electrode is in contact with the electrolyte and not the wire)
Dont Mind the staining and tape on the elctrolyser in the images it kind of leaked and melted
