Paddle Lollipop is my playful remix of the classic Paddle Move — a well-known magic technique traditionally performed with a rectangular paddle.

I redesigned it as a 3D-printed lollipop, making the trick more colorful, fun and kid-friendly. The color is printed on only one side, but with a simple thumb movement, the lollipop secretly rotates and creates the illusion that both sides are colored.

🎩 How the Trick Works

Hold the lollipop perpendicular to your index finger, with all your fingers held tightly together. Your thumb stays hidden behind your fingers, completely out of sight.

While making a natural, slightly larger movement with your hand, secretly move your thumb behind your fingers. This tiny hidden movement makes the lollipop rotate, revealing or hiding the colored side.

The key idea is simple: the big movement hides the small movement. The secret rotation becomes virtually invisible, allowing you to show both sides very convincingly.

When the lollipop is held in front of your mouth, simply turn it. You don't have to do a bigger movement for this one as the lollipop is in front a black background (your open mouth).

With a little practice, you can display the lollipop from both sides and create the illusion that the color is magically present on both sides !

🖨 Print Tips

🖨 Two-color print:
Print the lollipop in two colors using a color change or a multi-color printer.

🎨 Single-color print:
You can also print the lollipop in one color and paint the spiral/twist afterwards.

✨ For best results:
Use a contrasting color for the spiral so the visual effect is as clear as possible.

I designed this prop myself because I couldn't find a lollipop version of the Paddle Move anywhere. I wanted something I could proudly use, teach and give to children during my magic workshops.

A classic magic move… with a sweet twist! 🍭✨
