An art teacher wanted a way to hold and display markers so that the caps would be permanently fixed in place so that little hands could pop the markers out without having loose caps getting lost.
This was my solution. Note that depending on your printer calibration, you might need to glue the caps in place. Want a loose fit? Adjust slicer settings to increase hole sizes slightly (0.2mm should be more than enough, honestly).
Holds 16x markers (14mm in diameter).
Prints without support.
Got a cap you want to remove, but it's shoved in too tightly? Poke a bamboo skewer or similar item up into the bottom of the cap hole and push the cap out from underneath!
This marker holder stacks (there's a socket underneath that fits not-too-tightly over the knob on top) so that you can store a LOT of markers in a small footprint. The knob also provides a convenient handle or a place to press down while pulling a marker out.
Tip: Color-code your classroom tables and print in matching colors so you know which holder goes where!
