Important note: Since I don't own this board, I can't test its fitment, tolerances, etc... with the case. I have added generous reserves for the board and expansion cards, even then, if you decide to print this case let me know when you encounter any issues ;)

Update 13.9.2026:

Integrated the power button into the top cover

Design changes on some parts

  • Model Description

Modular Case designed for the Framework 12 Laptop board. Its main feature is adaptivity for your use case. You can use mainboard with or without Frameworks expansion cards. The case can be used just to enclose the board (see image 3), add custom accessories (i.e stands, VESA mounting, external drive holders, powerbank holder...) when used together with the two side panels (version A, just USB-C cutouts; version B designed for expansion cards).

Requires minimum amount of non-printable hardware.

Print it atleast with PETG, PCTG, ASA or similiar.

  • BOM Hardware:

  1. DIN912 M3x18 (2pcs) (when using side panels)

  2. DIN912 M3x12 (2pcs) (when not using side panels)

  3. DIN934 M3 (2pcs)

  4. *optional: M2x3 Heat-set inserts (5pcs), (for example https://www.prusa3d.com/product/heat-set-inserts-m2-short-100-pcs/)

  • BOM Printed parts:

  1. 01-1-case-body1 or 01-1-case-body1_M2_inserts

  2. 01-2-case-body2

  3. 02-1-1-pt-left or 02-2-1-exp-left

  4. 02-1-2-pt-right or 02-2-2-exp-right

  5. optional: case accessories

  • Assembly instructions

  1. Insert 5 M2 heat-set inserts into the board standoffs, this step can be skipped when you dont want to use inserts

  2. Place the board into the case and secure it with it's captive screws into the standoffs mentioned above

  3. Cover the board with the top cover

  4. Insert expansion cards into "exp" side panels (ignore if you're not using expansion cards) and slide the panels onto the case (ignore if you're not using side panels)

  5. Slide accessories between the side panels

  6. Secure the assembly with two M3 screws and M3 nuts mentioned in the BOM.

If you get stuck somewhere in the assembly process (the instructions are not the greatest), you can refer to the assembly STEP file.
