Minisforum MS-A2 case

Everybody knows: Hexagons are the bestagons. But alas, my printer is not able to print those in the Z-direction without properly tuned PETG overhangs.

This is a replacement case for the Minisforum MS-A2, designed using crystal-shaped holes for easier printing. The thickness of the case has been increased by 0.55mm from the original by Kevin68. You won't see the difference, but you will definitely feel it. There are models with different fan options for the system fan for a better and quieter cooling of the underside.

Advantages:

• 0.55mm thicker and slightly stiffer structure

• Easier to print

Disadvantages:

• No hexagons

Handling Safety Warning

The original Minisforum MS-A2 case is made of metal. Plastic is not as stiff as metal, so always use two hands to secure both ends of the case during transport. Otherwise, the case might unlatch itself, allowing the motherboard to fall out.

How to print:

1. Add an outer brim of at least 2mm to ensure strong bed adhesion.

2. Add supports. "On the build plate only" should be enough.

3. Print with 5 perimeters for adequate rigidity.

4. Put the end of the case on the build plate (the hole of for the latch will be at the bottom, too)

Fan Connection Note:

The Minisforum MS-A2 uses a Molex PicoBlade connector for the system fan header. The fan is a 5V fan and the pinout is different to the standard. See the photo for the correct order.

Versions:

• No Fan: just more crystal-shaped holes for better passive ventilation

• 60mm: an internal fan which replaces the loud system fan.

• 120mm: an external fan to really push the cooling to the top.

Other Minisforum PCs:

Although it has not been tested, this case might fit the Minisforum MS-01 or MS-03. If you print it for one of those PCs, I would appreciate feedback.
