Description
Designed to improve the installation of the INDX spool holders and the reattachment of the Core One side panels. You can use a magnet to hold the back plate in place while reinstalling the panels and then remove the magnet for further use. The supplied tool is not an ideal long term solution.
Features
Easy, short print time. (~7 min)
Supplied nuts fit tightly (M3nN)
Hold in place with a spare/extra magnet that Prusa supplied for the original build. You can also harvest one from the old filament sensor that you are replacing.
The side panels are easier to remove and reinstall for maintenance and possible upgrades.
Universal fit for all top mounts. (No front, back, left or right)

***CAUTION***
REMOVE THE MAGNET AFTER INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE. It is only meant as an aid
DO NOT ALLOW SCREWS TO STICK OUT PAST THE NUTS/BACK PLATE
TRIPLE CHECK THAT THE BACK PLATE, NUTS AND SCREWS DO NOT INTERFEAR WITH THE Z AXIS MOUNTS!
The back plates fit with plenty of clearance for my Core One that was kit built in early 2026
The machine would likely trigger an overload and stop the Z axis if interference happens but do not rely on that.
Install the nuts so that the nylon locking side is facing towards you. The screws enter from the "bottom" when installing.
Updates
v1.1 is sized to work with ASA/ABS.
Adjusted pocket that hold the nuts to fit better when using ASA/ABS
Removed v1.0 as it did not fit well with ASA/ABS
Back Story
While upgrading my Core One + to the INDX version I came to a stop when following the instructions for attaching the new spool holders and side panel. It is a pain to do even when using the supplied tool and I thought there has to be a better way, AND THERE IS!
I highly recommend printing these top backplate before beginning your upgrade. I did not because like many of you, I had no clue this part of the install would not be as polished as the rest and found myself looking for a solution after installing one side.
I am open to testing various materials including CF or GF filled materials although they are likely overkill. I have some PA6CF but have confirmed fitment with Prusament ASA.
I did not design anything for the bottom mounts as there is only 1 nut per spool holder that is on the inside of the printer. The others are below or screw into a threaded hole. If I receive enough requests, I will design and test one.
