A printable holder for a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and an OV5647 camera module or similar compact Raspberry Pi camera. It is intended to give a stable camera view of a 3D printer running Klipper with Mainsail.

What this is for

Use the holder to mount a small Pi camera where it can watch the nozzle and print bed. The Pi Zero 2 W can run Klipper host software for compatible printers, while Mainsail provides the browser-based interface for printer controls, file management, status, and the camera stream.

Compatible hardware

  • Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W

  • OV5647 Raspberry Pi camera module or a similarly sized camera board with compatible mounting geometry

  • A camera ribbon cable suited to your Pi and camera connector orientation

  • A stable 5 V power supply appropriate for the Pi and attached accessories

Klipper and Mainsail notes

  1. Install a current Klipper/Mainsail image for Raspberry Pi and complete the normal printer-controller setup.

  2. Enable the camera using the supported camera service in your chosen image or distribution. Confirm the OV5647 camera is detected before permanently routing the cable.

  3. In Mainsail, add or enable the camera stream using the URL supplied by the camera service. Use a lower resolution or frame rate if the Pi Zero 2 W becomes overloaded.

  4. Position the camera to see the nozzle and the print surface, then verify the live view from another device before starting a long print.

Print settings

  • PETG is recommended for a warm enclosure or printer area; PLA is suitable only where heat is low.

  • 0.20 mm layer height, 3 perimeters, and 15–20% infill work well.

  • Print in the orientation shown in the model files. Supports should not normally be required.

Installation

  1. Seat the Pi and camera module gently; do not overtighten fasteners or flex the circuit boards.

  2. Route the camera ribbon cable with broad bends and keep it clear of belts, fans, hot components, and moving axes.

  3. Mount the holder so the printer can move through its complete travel without striking the camera, cable, or mount.

  4. Check for a clear view, stable power, cooling, and cable strain relief before beginning a print.

Files included: STL for printing, 3MF for slicer setup, and editable Fusion 360 source.
