The PIKO silberlinge coaches do not couple close enough together. This model is a replacement coupling arm that solves the problem. The coupler pocket follow the NEM standard.

After installation the coaches couples very close together, and the kinematics in the coupling still makes sure the coaches can traverse curves.

You can re-use the spring in from the original coupling arm. So take care that the spring does not "jump away" when you remove it.

Recommended Print Settings

The 3mf file contains recommended print settings.

  • 0.15 mm layer height. You can do 0.2 mm, but you wont buy much time and it looks better at 0.15 mm layer height.

  • Use supports. Only add supports for the horizontal parts. You can skip supports inside the coupler pocket. There is almost no post processing if you do. The 3mf file includes a suggestion for support settings.

  • Print slowly. I use 30 mm/s for the walls. Slowly generally gives you a much better result and less post processing.

  • The 3mf file suggest optimal placement. It puts the stress on the model a long the layer lines, giving the model extreme durability and minimal weak points.

  • Take care when adding seams. I use "Aligned" which put the seam at the back of the coupler pocket. If you use other seam settings, the seam may go inside the coupler pocket which will cause problems for the NEM coupler when putting it in the pocket.
