Design

I have other PTFE release tools, but I wanted a release tool that would live on the tube and always be available.

I designed this in Fusion 360 (included). It has an internal mechanism to lightly grip the PTFE tube to prevent it from sliding away from where you want it.

It is completely customizable. The important parameters are the inner diameter of the sliding part and the inner diameter of the gripping part.

  • Sliding part diameters:

    • Pusher Inner Diameter

      • The hole on the big end you push with.

    • Release Inner Diameter

      • The hole on the small end that contacts the connector.

  • Gripping part diameter:

    • Tube Diameter

      • The diameter of the PTFE tube plus a little clearance to make it snug but still slide when you want it to.

You may use the other parameters to control the shape of the tool as you desire.

Printing

I used PETG for the springiness of the griping arms. I printed at .20 as the clearances are fairly small.

If you want to print a quick version (included) to check the clearances, suppress the final revolve that makes the outer cover.
