An infinity mirror that doesn't just show floating dots of light — it builds an endless Backrooms corridor, complete with yellow wallpaper and buzzing ceiling lights receding into nothing.

The trick is that the walls live inside the box. Two identical panes of glass, both coated with silver one-way mirror film, face each other with the room built between them. Light bounces back and forth, and every bounce becomes a room further down the hall.

📺 Full build video
I documented the entire process on video — from the first prototype to the finished corridor, including the circuit design, the simulation, and the mistakes along the way. You'll see why the back mirror turned out to be unnecessary, how the doorway piece creates the illusion of separate rooms, and what happens when you get the film colour wrong. Watch it on the Deu Tela YouTube channel: youtube.com/@deutela

No mirror required. Most infinity mirror builds ask you to source a real mirror for the back panel. This one uses two panes from cheap 6×4" photo frames, both treated with the same window film. Tested and confirmed working.

What's printed
The box structure, the interior wall panels, and the partial doorway frame — that last piece is what sells the illusion, because it repeats with every reflection and reads as a sequence of rooms instead of a smooth tunnel.

What you'll need besides the prints

  • 2× glass panes, 15.2 × 10.2 cm (6 × 4 in) — photo frame glass works

  • Silver one-way mirror window film (static cling type)

  • 3× white 5 mm LEDs, 3× 470 Ω resistors, one NPN transistor, a 1N4007 diode, a potentiometer

  • A certified 12 V wall adapter

A full parts list PDF and print-ready wallpaper textures are included in the downloads.

Sizing warning
The printed parts are modelled around 15.2 × 10.2 cm glass. If you use a different size, scale the parts before printing — measure your glass first.

Lighting note
One-way film only mirrors when one side is brighter than the other. Turn the room lights off. With the ceiling light on, the effect collapses and you just see a box.
