A wise man once said "If it exists there is a gridfinity model for it", this is the living proof of it. This is a very simple project i made for Hackclub - Atlantis. It relies a lot on interference fits so some super glue or sanding might be needed to make it work, additionally a large 3D printer will be needed.

PARTS

GFW-gridfinity-base 1x

GFW-small-gear-stopper 1x

GFW-small-gear 1x

GFW-big-gear 1x

GFW-arm 2x

GFW-carriage-body 10x    -    will need small supports

GFW-carriage-faceplate 20x

GFW-axle-back-stopper 1x

GFW-axle 1x

GFW-wheel 2x

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. assemble the 10 carriages by pressing fit the two faceplates for each carriage body, it should be a tight fit if it is loose it might fall out so applying supper glue is recommended

  2. assemble the main body of the ferris wheel, press fit the big gear and axle then the two wheels leaving enough room on either end for the arms and finally the axle back stopper (it needs to be interference fit so if its loose apply glue)

  3. bend the wheels apart slightly to be able to insert each carriage holder (the cylinder on the faceplate) into the wheels holes, repeat this for all 10 carriages

  4. attach the arms to the gridfinity plate

  5. place the small gear on top of the hole and pass through the small gear stopper (it should hold on to the arms but be lose on the gear so it can spin freely, sanding or glue might be needed)

  6. put the wheel on the arms and test gear engagement
