Your own first dollar with frame
A fancy display frame for your first dollar, with a little extra functionality.
The dollar itself can be opened and is sized to also fit a standard credit card. The frame has integrated mounting holes/preparations so it can be mounted directly on the wall.
For the frame back, I recommend using a coarse woven fabric. The frame can also be painted to give it the look you want.
Features
Dollar can be opened and fits a standard credit card - for bragging rights while shopping
Fancy bamboo frame with wall mount preparations - for bragging rights at home
Dollar can be fully removed from the frame and reattached without any tools
What you need
Recommended:
12 x magnets, 5 mm diameter and 1 mm height
The magnets are used to connect the front and back parts of the dollar. Don't forget to add print pauses or filament changes at the right layers so you can insert the magnets during printing, as seen in the pictures.
Make sure the magnet orientation is correct.
Optional:
Paint for the Frame (brownish tones)
Coarse woven fabric for the frame background
Glue to connect frame parts and fixate fabric
Used Materials
The model was printed with the following materials:
Bambu PLA Black – Dollar front uppermost layer / Frame Back
Bambu PLA Mistletoe Green – Dollar front middle layer
Elegoo Rapid PLA+ Green – Dollar front lower layer / Dollar Back upper layer
Elegoo Silk PLA Silver – Dollar Back lower layer / Dollar Frame Holders / Frame sign
Bambu PLA Wood Ochre Yellow – Frame Flat
You can of course use different colors or materials depending on your preferences.
Print Info
Layer height: 0.2mm - watch out for filament changes if you change this
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Use a high infill percentage of 60% or more for better stability, especially for the parts that connect to each other.
The Frame Back needs supports for the hinges.
For the back of the frame, I recommend using a coarse woven fabric and a lot of glue.
Additional Info
Watch out if your credit card has a magnetic strip. Those and contact to magnets don't mix very well.
