This tactile 3D-printed model of the United States Capitol is built at approximately 1:1600 scale. The printed model measures 142 mm long, 65 mm wide, and 54 mm high (5.6 x 2.6 x 2.1 inches).
The building has three parts: the central section with the Capitol Plaza entrance and the Great Rotunda, the Senate wing to the north with the old Senate chamber, and the House wing to the south with Statuary Hall. The entrances are colonnaded in two rows with carved triangular pediments above, the lowest level is surrounded by arcaded passages, and the great dome rises on an elevation ringed with columns, topped by the Statue of Freedom.
Designed for touch: sturdy architectural details with no fragile parts, a raised dome and colonnades that are easy to explore by hand. A tactile teaching model and display piece for educators, museums, and architecture fans.
