Another adventure into the realm of AI assisted code generation. Through a 4 hour conversation with Google Gemeni I created a model of the Three Twit Knot in OpenSCAD.
It's a new process for me, developing in natural language through an AI. I have 50+ years of coding background, and it was quite enjoyable to have a trained Code Monkey doing the typing, formatting, and researching geometric formulae.
Required libraries: OpenSCAD ( I upgraded to the nightly version 2026.10.01 during the project to leverage the manifold engine) Puzzlecad https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3198014
My puzzlecad.scad header file contains
$burr_scale=17; // controls the overall scale of the model.
$burr_inset=0.05; // used to trim the face of each model half for joining
$joint_inset=0.005; // sets the tightness of snap joints to join the models segments.
These worked very well on my Bambu P2S. I used random Seam location, and Adaptive layer height.
Your mileage will vary - print a small object with snap joints before launching this multi-hour print.
Print one copy of each file. The two halves are lined up for joining with the snap joint connectors. just rotate the two sets of pieces 90 degrees toward each other with the y-z plane between them. (a future modification - label the snap joint sockets).
