An enclosure for a serial comms terminal (i.e old school RS232). This terminal runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero (or W) with the WaveShare USB HUB HAT installed (SKU 12694).
It has a removable clip-on lid (no hardware), and diffuse LED windows printed with translucent PLA.
Printed with PLA+, no supports, 15% infill. I used a Bambu Lab P1S with AMS, multicolour to get the embedded text and LED windows.
The remarkable aspect of this project, at least for me/now (it won't be remarkable soon, it will likely be the norm), is that I created it using ChatGPT-6 Astra, plugged into Autodesk Fusion via the MCP server. I prompted in natural language and watched the magic happen.
I already had existing enclosure projects with clip-on lids that work really well, so I asked ChatGPT if it could "study" those, and sure enough it copied that aspect perfectly into this project. Saved a lot of my time, but the Fusion timeline looks busy and messy.
The terminal is Minicom running on Raspi OS "Bullseye", in a minimalist custom read-only distro. This provides fast boot and it can be powered off without any shutdown process. This distro is created using an open source script from https://github.com/kevinboone/rasp-pi-minicom-build
