H0 Scale Open Freight Car Coal Load

Purpose:

Coal load insert designed for various sizes of H0 scale open freight cars.

Print Settings:

• Quality -> Wall Generator: Arachne (recommended for fine details).

• Supports / AMS: Neither support material nor an AMS unit is required. You can ignore any slicer warning requesting supports, as it only triggers on the surface texture.

Kit Overview:

• Load Plates: Includes double-hump and triple-hump plates, available in both textured and flat versions. The flat versions allow you to apply your own real coal or ballast material (e.g., 0.5–1.0 mm layout ballast). An attached photo compares a long three-hump textured insert with a shorter two-hump insert covered in real stone; once painted matte black, the difference is virtually imperceptible.

• Bases: Includes various base blocks to raise the load plates to the desired height inside different wagons.

• Removal & Scaling: Loads can be removed easily by pressing down on one end, causing the opposite end to tilt up for easy gripping. Each base features a pocket for an 11 mm diameter magnet if you prefer using a magnetic load-removal tool. If you need custom dimensions, scale the load plates directly in your slicer.

Assembly Instructions:

1. Print your selected load plate and matching base.

2. Glue the base to the bottom of the plate (optionally glue an 11 mm magnet into the base pocket).

3. Paint and finish the model.
