Hardware BOM:
Part number | Part name | Quantity | Note |
S30K | motor | 1 | DC 12V 14RPM S30K |
DC power connector | 1 | The case is designed with an 8 mm diameter hole for this connector.
608 | Ball bearing 608 | 3 | Probably the most common bearings out there |
DIN 7982 3x12 | Screw | 4 | 2 for the motor, 2 for the PCB |
DIN 7982 3x20 | Screw | 4 | 2 for front lind, 2 for back lid |
DIN 7991 3x10 | Short bolt | 1 | Holds the pinion gear in the motor shaft |
⌀6x2mm N42 | Magnet | 16* | These are the same magnets people use in gridfinity boxes. *The mechanims uses 8 magnets and each disc also uses 8 magnets. |
The model works well with a single DC motor. For added functionality I used this circuit:

Electronics BOM:
Part number | Part name | Quantity | Note |
XIAO ESP32-C3 | Microcontroller | 1
MAX14870 | Motor driver | 1
5V step down module | 1 | The step down module takes the input voltage and reduces it to 5V for the LEDs and the microcontroller. The module I used seems to be proprietary for this Czech e-shop. https://dratek.cz/arduino-platforma/1738-step-down-modul-napajeni-mini-buck-nastavitelny.html I thought it would be more widely available. Nevertheless, any DC/DC 5V buck converter should work as long as it's connected in the same way.
7-pin headers | 2 | For mounting the XIAO
5-pin headers | 2 | For mounting the driver
B3B-XH-A | 3-pin connector | 1 | For connecting the LED strip |
B2B-XH-A | 2-pin connector | 1 | Board power connector |
WS2812B 60 LED/m | LED light strip | 9 LEDs | I used self adhesive strip. At 60 LED/m the section has 9 LEDs. |
