Ever wanted to make your own "litterbuggy"?
Your personal trash collecting rc car?
Today is your lucky day. All you need is an SCX6, a plastic container and a Prusa Core One L. (If there is interest I can design a model thats printable on smaller beds too. The quick solution would be to slice the hoops with a dovetail and glue them in place)
I don't have to, because this whole design is my own.I do however want to give credit to the person who inspired me to build this contraption: FTMOG from litterbuggies dot com has built many variations over the past years and I've been following him on reddit along the way. The work he does for his environment is great and deserves lots of praise. He sells complete dedicated builds if you're interested. I have zero affiliation with him nor his projects.
Many of FTMOG's creations are dedicated litterbuggies. Usually running on 18V powertool battery packs that last way longer than the RC LiPo's (and a lot cheaper) His linktree: www.linktr.ee/ftmog
I however wanted to maintain the crawler capabilities of the SCX6 so designed mine as if it were a 'body'. It rests on the body mounts and uses the same clips as the stock body does. Converting from litterbuggy to RC crawler is as easy as swapping a body.
Bill Of Materials: (subject to change)
Amount | Size | Description |
|---|---|---|
1 | 50 liter | Plastic storage container |
2 | 72 cm | Wooden (or plastic or metal) strips |
5 | M8 | Threaded insert |
10 | M5 | Threaded insert |
4 | M8 x 20* | Bolt + Nut |
1 | M8 x 20 | Bolt |
5 | M8 | Washers |
2 | M5 x 12** | Bolt |
8 | M5 x 20*** | Bolt |
20 | M5 | Washers |
_ The length of these bolts depends on thickness of your wooden slats.
_ Depends on the thickness of the container walls you're mounting the bracket on.
_ Longer or shorter are possible in most spots depending on if you care about them sticking out or not threading fully.
I've tried to make all parts such that the length of the bolt is flexible and in most parts you can use a slightly different length than in the BOM. Only the base does not allow for much variation cause the ends of the holes are closed.
Filaments:
This is just what I used, feel free to use whichever material you have at hand and you deem suffficient for the task. (I wouldn't go for PLA as it might snap (especially the hoops or base) but besides ASA and PETG, ABS and PA12 can be used. Go wild!
Hoop Left & Right | ASA |
Stand | PETG |
13mm Clip | PETG |
Base (tub-clip) | Clear PETG |
Body-mounts | ASA |
Points of Attention / Advice:
The brackets are (inherent to their printing orientation relatively weak at the mounting points. Perfectly strong enough for holding everything in place whilst riding and normal use, but you can not hold the bucket or brackets to lift the car. The angular stress will snap the mounting pins.
You'll need to make your own base and buy a container for this. As shown in the pictures and BOM I used 2 strips of hardwood and a Curver 50 liter container, but here you can be as free and flexible as you want. Use what you have lying about so you don't have to buy something new. If the mount won't fit your tub use the STEP file to create your own tub clip. Heck, if you're not able to yourself drop me a message with your request and I can make it for you. (subject to my spare time of course, but I'm happy to help)
I hope you enjoy the print and you too can make our planet just a little bit greener and cleaner.
