A modular insulated keezer collar for the Insignia NS-CZ50WH0 5 cu. ft. chest freezer. This version is split into bed-sized parts, with integrated screw-support geometry around the tap area, staggered seam plates, hinge reinforcement, and reusable caps for unused tap openings.
Assembled collar envelope: approximately 613.0 × 517.7 × 73 mm. Measure your own freezer before printing.
Included STL files
11 numbered collar sections — print one of each.
8 numbered connecting-plate sections — print one of each. These bridge and stagger the collar seams during final glue assembly.
2 numbered hinge reinforcement plates — print both.
1 unused-spout cap — print one for each tap opening you want to close.
1 full-collar assembly reference — for the Printables 3D viewer only; do not print it as one piece.
STL only. No editable Fusion, STEP, or other CAD source is included.
The freezer, lid, taps, and preview hardware are visual context only and are not included print parts.
Printing
Files use millimeters. Reorient and center each numbered part in your slicer.
Largest collar footprint: approximately 183.8 mm. Collar sections are 73 mm tall.
Largest connecting plate: 215 × 215 × 1 mm. On a 235 × 235 mm printer, verify your actual usable area, clips, purge line, and brim clearance first.
An 8 mm brim can help adhesion where it fits safely. Keep cooling low or off for roughly the first 5 mm, then use settings appropriate for your filament.
Inspect thin walls, holes, first-layer paths, overhangs, and adhesion in slicer preview. Some orientations may need support under the first overhang.
Print one corner first as a dimensional and assembly fit test.
Insulation and assembly
Dry-fit everything: assemble the collar sections, seam plates, hinge plates, and cap(s) before bonding. Test it on the freezer and lightly sand plastic seams if needed.
Prepare the insulation: use four straight 1-inch (25.4 mm) XPS strips as a rectangular frame, with square 90° cuts and butt joints. No corner notches, miters, shims, or locking foam profiles are needed.
Tack plastic seams: use a plastic-compatible adhesive. Keep ordinary cyanoacrylate/superglue away from polystyrene foam.
Bond the structure: use construction adhesive rated for XPS, the printed plastic, and cold service. Test scrap bonds first; do not use adhesive as a bulk gap filler.
Install foam and caps: keep active tap/shank paths clear and fit caps in unused openings.
Cure, then mount: let the collar/foam assembly cure with the cavity open. Flip it, bond it to the base collar, and let that bond fully cure before loading.
Fit the two hinge reinforcement plates to the real hinge/pivot-bolt arrangement. Confirm bolt clearance, plate placement, and tightening torque on the physical freezer.
Prototype limits
Physical testing is still required for screw support, seam strength, hinge reinforcement, cap retention, adhesive performance, insulation performance, and load capacity. XPS is insulation, not certified structural support. Preview images are illustrative context, not dimensional fabrication drawings.
