I have always loved both the creature-catching world of Pokémon and the psychological horror of the Saw franchise. Blending two completely different corners of pop culture has been a blast throughout this series, and bringing Billy the Puppet into the Slasher Sphere collection felt like a natural next step.

This model captures Billy's iconic ventriloquist puppet features—deep, hollow eye sockets, piercing red irises, carved cheek spirals, and a segmented jawline aesthetic paired with a bold red button accent reminiscent of his bow tie. The bottom hemisphere features an integrated flat footing so it rests cleanly on a shelf or desk without rolling.

FEATURES

  • Multi-Part Friction Fit: Interlocking shells, alignment core, and detail chips let standard single-extruder printers create a clean multi-color display model with zero mid-layer filament swaps.

  • Deep-Set Sockets: Orbital eye cavities are recessed to cast natural shadows around the red iris accents, capturing the puppet's unsettling stare.

  • Anti-Roll Base: The bottom hemisphere includes a built-in flat footing, keeping the sphere upright and stable on flat surfaces without needing a separate stand.

  • Anti-Twist Internal Core: A heavy-duty rectangular alignment peg locks the top and bottom hemispheres securely in place to prevent rotational misalignment.

  • 100% Support-Free: Hemispheres and dividing bands print flat-face down directly against the build plate for smooth exterior curves without support cleanup.

  • Open Source: Fully parametric OpenSCAD source files and presets available on GitHub under Cold Front Forge.

MODEL VARIANTS & FILES

Files are provided as individual single-color STL meshes ready for plate sorting:

  • Top Shell (billy-ball-top.stl): White upper hemisphere with recessed orbital cavities and cheek spiral pockets.

  • Bottom Shell (billy-ball-bottom.stl): Black lower hemisphere with integrated flat base and puppet chin contours.

  • Center Dividing Ring (billy-ball-ring.stl): Black equatorial dividing band.

  • Core Alignment Peg (billy-ball-filler.stl): Rectangular internal alignment block.

  • Front Button Assembly (billy-ball-front-ring.stl & billy-ball-button.stl): Two-piece actuator and bezel.

  • Face Detail Chips: Black eye socket backings (billy-chips-black.stl) and red cheek spirals and pupil chips (billy-chips-red.stl).

RECOMMENDED PRINT SETTINGS

  • Orientation: Flat on the bed, equator face down (no supports needed). Core peg printed flat on its side.

  • Material: PLA or PETG.

  • Layer Height: 0.20 mm.

  • Wall Generator: Arachne (mandatory to resolve the delicate lines of the cheek spirals without gaps).

  • Wall Loops: 3 to 4 walls for solid socket floors.

  • Infill: 15% Gyroid for hemispheres; 100% solid infill for all small chip inserts to prevent snapping during installation.

  • Seam Position: Back / Rear (keeps seams off the face and button bezel).

  • Elephant Foot Compensation: 0.15 mm (critical to ensure circular spirals seat smoothly).

  • Brim: None required on clean PEI.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Install mask inserts: Press the black socket backings and red pupil chips into the upper orbital cavities. Press the red cheek spirals into the circular pockets on the white top shell, confirming spiral orientation before pressing fully flush.

  2. Build the core: Slide the rectangular filler peg into the bottom hemisphere, slide the center ring over the peg, and press the top hemisphere down until flush.

  3. Install the front button: Press the red button into the black bezel ring, then press the combined assembly into the front equator opening.

  4. Adhesive note: While parts are engineered for a tight friction fit, a tiny drop of CA glue behind the circular cheek spirals or inside the core peg channel ensures long-term display durability.
