🧠 REPLACEMENT PLASTIC JAR LID

Sometimes you design a part because you've identified an opportunity to improve an existing product.

Sometimes your dog decides the original lid on your push-in cable connector jar is his new chew toy.

This is the second kind. 🐕

The Replacement Plastic Jar Lid is a reusable 3D-printable replacement for the original lid supplied with compatible Commercial Electric plastic containers sold by Home Depot.

It uses threads designed to match the original container and adds easy-grip nubs around the perimeter for quick opening and closing.

Because chasing 100 push-in cable connectors around the back of a work truck isn't anybody's idea of a productive afternoon.

⚠ COMPATIBILITY

Designed specifically around the plastic storage containers supplied with compatible Commercial Electric products sold by Home Depot, including the container shown in the listing photos.

The replacement lid uses thread geometry modeled to match the original container.

Because similar plastic jars may use different neck diameters, thread pitches, or profiles, compatibility with other containers is not guaranteed.

📐 DESIGN BACKGROUND

The original plastic lid works perfectly well...right up until somebody decides it's a chew toy.

After the original lid was damaged, replacing the entire container didn't make much sense. The jar itself was perfectly good and still had a job to do. So instead of replacing the container, I modeled a new lid.

The replacement retains the original threaded attachment while adding pronounced grip nubs around the perimeter, making the lid easy to grab and turn—even when you're working out of a truck or toolbox.

Simple problem. Simple solution. And considerably easier than finding all those connectors after they spill.

🔩 MATCHING THREADED DESIGN

The internal threads are designed to engage the original Commercial Electric plastic container.
Simply remove what's left of the original lid and thread the replacement into place.

✋ EASY-GRIP NUBS

Raised nubs around the perimeter provide additional grip when opening and closing the container. They're functional, easy to print, and particularly useful when your hands aren't perfectly clean or dry.

♻ REUSABLE REPLACEMENT

A damaged lid doesn't need to mean throwing away a perfectly usable storage container.
Print a replacement and put the jar back to work.
And if your dog has strong opinions about plastic lids, printing a spare might not be a terrible idea.

The model is designed to print without supports.
No complicated support removal or special post-processing required—print it, remove it from the build plate, and put it to work.

1 Print the replacement lid.
2 Remove it from the build plate.
3 Thread it onto the compatible Commercial Electric plastic container.
4 Put your connectors back where they belong.
5 Keep away from dog. (Optional, but strongly recommended.) 🐕

This is intended to be a straightforward functional print.

Supports: None Required

No unusual print setup should be necessary. Start with your printer's normal/default profile and adjust only if required for your particular machine or material.
Because the lid uses functional printed threads, a reasonably calibrated printer will provide the best fit.
