1mm spacer ring for European electrical wall sockets and hollow wall mounting boxes.

When installing wall sockets after plastering or renovating a wall, the electrical mounting box can sometimes sit slightly too deep. This can prevent the socket cover plate from fitting properly against the wall.

This simple 3D-printable spacer ring helps bring the socket mounting frame forward by 1mm, allowing the cover plate to sit flush against the finished wall.

Features

  • 1mm thickness for precise adjustment

  • 68mm outer diameter

  • 60mm inner diameter (with reinforced screw mounting areas)

  • Two 4.4mm screw holes

  • 60mm center-to-center screw spacing

  • Stackable for additional spacing

  • Designed for common European hollow wall electrical boxes

Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: PETG

  • Layer height: 0.2mm

  • Infill: 100%

  • Supports: Not required

  • Orientation: Print flat on the build plate

  • Scale: 100%

Installation

  1. Turn off the power before working on the socket.

  2. Place the spacer ring between the electrical box and the socket mounting frame.

  3. Align the screw holes and secure the socket.

  4. Install the cover plate and check the fit.

Important Safety Note

This is a custom spacer, not a certified electrical installation component. Verify compatibility with your electrical box and local electrical installation requirements. Use only where the spacer does not compromise electrical insulation, enclosure integrity, or secure mounting. A certified box extension or manufacturer-approved spacer is preferable where required.

Why I Made This

After plastering my walls, several electrical sockets were sitting just a little too deep for the cover plates to fit properly.

Instead of replacing or repositioning the electrical boxes, I designed this simple 1mm spacer ring to compensate for the extra plaster thickness.

A small print that can make finishing electrical installations much easier!
