Introduction:
I needed a solution to rapidly create hundreds of convincing deciduous tree armatures for a model forest I will be constructing. These armatures print in only a few short minutes and can be transformed into convincing looking trees within a matter of minutes. I will try to add additional tree species in the coming weeks.
Instructions:
1) Print the trees. Printing in black is not a bad idea, otherwise, a colour close to the final tree bark colour would be wise. You will likely need to paint them anyways.

2) Slot the upper and lower armatures together. They may not slot perfectly, but it will unlikely impact the finished quality of the tree.
3) (Optional) Run a small bead of superglue along the "trunk" of the tree to secure the two halves together. At this time you may also wish to add a wire extending past the bottom of the trunk that can be used to pin the tree in place on your landscaping surface.
4) Slip heat shrink tube over the trunk of the tree. I will update with ideal sizes as I experiment.

5) Use a heat gun to shrink the heat shrink tubing over the trunk. Be careful to not overheat the plastic. If desired, this is a good opportunity to adjust the branches on the tree to add variation as the heat will cause the plastic to soften.
6) Your armature is now completed. You can take the time to paint the tree the colour of your choice And apply foliage as desired. The pictured trees had foliage applied with poly-fiber and yellow dyed sawdust.
