Note on Design & Testing

This concept was created purely from my own ideas to enable gear shifting for individuals with a prosthetic arm. Please note that it has not been physically tested on a real threaded prosthetic arm yet. I welcome any feedback from users to help improve the design!

Adjustable Prosthetic Shifter Arm – Thrustmaster TH8S

This project is designed to make sim racing more accessible by providing a customizable shifter arm solution for prosthetic arm users. The modular design allows you to choose the length that best suits your setup and driving position.

The model consists of 3 main components:

  • Ball socket: Available in 4 sizes, with different heights from the bottom of the socket to the center of the ball.

  • Ball joint: A separate ball that screws onto the arm.

  • Shifter arm: Available in 4 lengths, with both M10 and 1/2"-20 UNF thread options.

Ball socket sizes

Measurements are taken from the bottom of the socket to the center of the ball.

  • Size 1: 95 mm

  • Size 2: 105 mm

  • Size 3: 115 mm

  • Size 4: 125 mm

Shifter arm sizes

Measurements are taken from the end of the arm to the center of the ball.

  • Size 1: 130 mm

  • Size 2: 140 mm

  • Size 3: 150 mm

  • Size 4: 160 mm

Features

  • Modular design with interchangeable components

  • 4 socket heights and 4 arm lengths

  • Ball-and-socket connection

  • Two thread options: M10 and 1/2"-20 UNF

  • Designed for use with the Thrustmaster TH8S shifter

Printing and assembly

Print the components that match your desired configuration. Screw the ball onto the threaded end of the arm, then assemble the ball-and-socket connection.

Check the thread compatibility and fit before use. Choose your dimensions based on your prosthetic setup and preferred driving position.
