The Wendigo — Forest Horror Bust
Inspired by the atmosphere of Algernon Blackwood’s novella The Wendigo, this bust offers a monstrous, emaciated interpretation of a forest creature.
An elongated head, deeply hollowed cheeks and massive brow ridges create an unsettling face. Pupil-less eyes and a closed mouth give the creature a cold, unreadable expression. Its long, sinewy neck, prominent collarbones and bony shoulders accentuate its gaunt silhouette.
Sculpted tufts of fur cover the skull, nape and shoulders, contrasting with the hollowed surfaces of the face and torso. A pedestal resembling an ancient tree stump, with roots carved in relief, connects the piece to its forest setting.
This creation is a freely imagined artistic interpretation inspired by the story’s horror. Its anatomy does not claim to reproduce either Blackwood’s description or traditional folklore depictions exactly.
