Mini Solar System Orrery

A simple orrery model of the Solar System mounted on a circular plate that rotates manually with a side handle. The model is not at correct real-life scale and is only for entertainment purposes. 

The simple mechanism consists of two bevel gears and their respective connecting bars, one attaching the handle through the box and the other connecting to the circular plate, supporting the center Sun figure at the top. The horizontal bar is meant to be glued to a connector piece that fits in between the top and bottom parts of the box. 

The model displays the eight planets orbiting around the Sun. Each is supported by a small beam that varies in size for a more appealing arrangement, not accurately representing the orbital planes of each planet. The spherical figures are printed in two halfs, then glued to each other and to their respective support. The rotating circular plate has a hole for each planet's support, ranging from closest to farthest from the central Sun piece. 

The Mercury and Mars figures are the same size, therefore two of the same part must be printed and assembled equally, only varying in the painting design. This is the same for Uranus and Neptune.

The box is a snap-fit design that stores the gear mechanism inside and can be sealed permanently after assembly. It is recommended to print the planet figures in a base color and then paint by hand to give more detail.
