A cryptex for Halloween. Each ring has 8 symbols: pumpkin, bat, ghost, skull, moon, spider, witch hat and black cat. The drawer only comes out when all four rings show the code at the notch in the flange. Hide candy, money or a note for a Halloween treasure hunt.
How it works: the drawer has four teeth that sit inside the rings. Each ring has a gate, and the drawer only opens when every gate is lined up. If one ring is off by a single symbol, it stays locked.
Change the code: every ring is a symbol dial plus a key ring with a tab that fits in 8 positions. The cap screws off to take the rings off. Default code in the pictures, cap on the left: pumpkin - bat - ghost - skull.
Size about 5 cm across, 9 cm long, about 105 g of filament. One colour per part, no AMS needed: body and cap black, drawer purple, 4 dials orange, 4 key rings any colour.
Assembly: push a key ring into each dial, slide the rings over the tube starting with the last symbol of your code, screw on the cap, set the code at the notch and slide the drawer in, then scramble the rings.
Note: designed and checked in CAD (fit, thread, locking and opening), but not test printed yet.
