A Smarter Case for Coralboard SL
This custom-designed enclosure combines a compact form factor with an unusual fold-flat construction. Instead of printing a conventional box with tall walls, the main body is printed flat and folded into shape during assembly.
The result is a lightweight, practical enclosure that is easy to print, easy to assemble, and requires no additional hardware.
✨ Key Features
Only 2 printed parts — a foldable main body and a perforated top cover.
Tool-free assembly — no screwdriver or other tools required.
No screws or glue — the integrated locking features hold the enclosure together.
Fold-flat design — the main body is printed flat and folded around the board.
No supports required — both parts are designed for support-free printing.
Ventilated top cover — a honeycomb pattern provides airflow while giving the enclosure a distinctive appearance.
Bottom ventilation — slots help improve airflow for passive cooling.
Accessible controls and ports — openings provide access to the board's external connectors, user button, and reset hole.
🔧 Assembly Instructions
Print the parts. Print the foldable body and the top cover.
Place the board. Align the Coralboard SL with the integrated locating pins.
Fold the sides. Fold the walls upward and engage the integrated corner locks.
Fit the cover. Place the perforated top cover onto the assembled enclosure.
Enjoy your finished case! No screws, glue, or additional fasteners are needed.
🖨 Printing Recommendations
Supports: Not required.
Orientation: Files are already oriented for optimal result.
Layer height: 0.20 mm is required for folding to operate the best way.
Material: PLA can work here, but PETG/ABS may be preferable if greater flexibility is needed for the locking features.
Assembly: Make sure the first layer is clean and the locking features are free of excess material before folding.
The fit of the integrated locks depends on printer calibration and dimensional accuracy. If the locks are too tight, check for first-layer expansion and over-extrusion before modifying the model.
🛠 Customizable Design — STEP Files Included
In addition to the ready-to-print STL files, STEP files are included so you can customize the enclosure to suit your needs.
Using a CAD application such as Fusion 360, you can modify the design to match your setup — for example, remove access openings for ports you don't use, add openings for additional connectors, or make other adjustments to fit your particular configuration.
The STEP files make it easier to adapt the enclosure without having to recreate the entire model from scratch.
📌 Notes
This design is intended for the Coralboard SL board. Please check the board revision and connectors required for your project before printing.
The enclosure is designed for passive ventilation; it does not include a fan.
