AKIRA Light Box & Lithophane Display – Assembly Guide

Bring Neo-Tokyo to life with this custom-designed, backlit AKIRA display box featuring dual-slot layering for a perfectly diffused, professional glowing effect.

🛠 Required Materials & Hardware

• 3D Printed Parts:

  • Main housing frame (with rear LED cutout)

  • Solid white diffuser panel

  • AKIRA lithophane poster (front display)

  • Top cap

• Lighting: Ring LED light (compatible with the rear circular cutout)

• Filament Colors Used (for Multi-color print):

  • Base / Frame: Dark / Black filament

  • Lithophane: White (with red accent highlights)

  • Diffuser: Solid White

⚙ Recommended Print Settings

• Orientation: Print the main housing standing up or oriented properly on the build plate as oriented in the provided files. Print the lithophane and diffuser flat to preserve fine detail.

• Infill: 15% – 20% (Grid or Gyroid)

• Walls/Perimeters: 3 or more to block light leakage through the outer walls.

• Supports: None typically required if oriented correctly.

📦 Step-by-Assembly Instructions

Step 1: Install the Diffuser Panel

1. Locate the diffuser panel (the solid white sheet).

2. Slide the diffuser panel down into the inner slit (the slot closest to the back/LED side of the box design). This panel sits right in front of the light source to evenly spread and soften the glow.

Step 2: Insert the Lithophane Poster

1. Take your printed AKIRA lithophane poster.

2. Slide the poster down into the outer slit (the slot furthest from the LED side, at the front of the box).

Step 3: Mount the LED Light

1. Position your ring LED light into the circular cutout located on the back panel of the housing.

2. Secure the wiring and light module firmly in place.

Step 4: Power On & Display

Plug in your LED light, dim the room lights, and enjoy your glowing custom AKIRA display!
