Modular Ventilated Case for Synaptics Coralboard SL
A fully parametric, modular case for the Coralboard SL, designed in OpenSCAD from the official CAD model. Four interchangeable side panels slide between a base and a lid, so you can swap port cut-outs or ventilation styles without reprinting the whole case.
Features
- Modular panels: front, back, left and right panels are separate prints. Reprint only the one you want to change.
- Airflow: hex-grid vents in the lid above the SoM, slots in the floor, and vertical slots in every panel (wherever there are no ports). Each vent type can be switched on/off in the OpenSCAD parameters.
- Port access: cut-outs for USB-A and USB-C on the front, and for the connectors on the side panels.
- No supports needed: the base prints as is, the lid prints upside down, the panels print flat.
- Parametric: board dimensions, clearances, wall thickness and vent layout are all variables at the top of the file.
Dimensions
Outer size is about 87 x 73 x 20 mm (including the corner posts). The board sits on four 3 mm standoffs, leaving room for the parts under the PCB, and the lid clears the tallest header by 1.5 mm.
## Files
- coralboard_case.scad - OpenSCAD source (set part to print for the full layout, or to base, lid, panel_front, panel_back, panel_left, panel_right).
- STL files for each part.
Hardware (BOM)
- 4x M3 heat-set inserts (4.2 mm diameter x 5 mm long)
- 4x M3x8 screws (lid)
- 4x M3x8 self-tapping screws (PCB onto the standoffs)
Print settings
- Material: PLA works for light use; PETG is a good choice if the case sits somewhere warm.
- Layer height 0.2 mm, 3 perimeters, 15-20% infill.
- No supports. The panels have a small 1 mm tongue along their edges, so print them slowly or file the tongue if it droops.
Assembly
1. Fit the 4 heat-set inserts into the posts of the base.
2. Screw the board onto the 4 standoffs.
3. Slide the 4 panels into the grooves in the floor of the base.
4. Place the lid on top (the panels' upper tongues fit into its grooves) and fasten it with the 4 M3x8 screws.
## Notes
The dimensions come from the official Coralboard SL CAD published by Google Coral on Printables. Check the side-panel cut-outs against your own board before printing, and adjust them in the parameters if needed.
