🐾 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small, elegant, and affectionate toy spaniel that originated in Great Britain. Its ancestors were cherished lapdogs of the English royal court, and the modern breed was recreated in the 1920s to match the spaniels seen in old royal paintings.

The breed is named after King Charles II, who was famously devoted to his little spaniels. Today, the Cavalier is admired as one of the most gentle, loving, and adaptable companion dogs in the world.

🐶 Appearance & Personality

Coat: Silky, medium-length, and slightly wavy, with feathering on the ears, chest, legs, and tail. Comes in four colours: Blenheim (chestnut and white), tricolour, ruby, and black and tan.
Build: Small, graceful, and well balanced, with a sporting spaniel's frame in a compact size.
Expression: Sweet, gentle, and melting, with a soft and loving gaze.
Face: Large round dark eyes, a gently tapered muzzle, and long, feathered ears set high on the head.
Tail: Well feathered and carried happily, wagging almost constantly.
Temperament: Cavaliers are affectionate, gentle, and eager to please, getting along with nearly everyone. They love being close to their people and are happiest as part of family life.

🎾 Activity & Companionship

Cavaliers need moderate daily exercise, such as walks and gentle play.

They enjoy strolling outdoors, chasing toys, and cuddling on the sofa after an outing.

They are excellent family dogs and get along wonderfully with children, seniors, and other pets.

They are eager to please and learn quickly with kind, positive, reward-based training.

💪 Health & Care

Exercise: Moderate — daily walks and playtime keep them fit and happy.
Coat care: Brushing several times a week to keep the silky coat and feathering free of tangles.
Diet: High-quality small-breed food in measured portions to prevent weight gain.
Health: Typically lives 12–15 years. Common conditions include mitral valve disease, syringomyelia, hip dysplasia, and eye problems. Regular veterinary care helps keep this loving companion healthy.
