  3D Printing Settings & Recommendations

Here are my recommended slicer settings for printing this TH8S shifter knob. I've printed some versions of the model, but these settings haven't all been tested individually, so feel free to experiment and find what works best for your printer!

 Suggested Print Settings

  • Material: PLA

  • Nozzle Diameter: 0.4 mm

  • Layer Height: 0.10 mm

  • First Layer Height: 0.20 mm

  • Perimeters: 2

  • Top Solid Layers: 5

  • Bottom Solid Layers: 4

  • Infill Density: 5%

  • Infill Pattern: Honeycomb

  • Supports: Organic / Tree Supports, where needed

  • Overhang Threshold: 40°

These settings are based on my slicer profile. Actual results may vary depending on your printer, filament, and slicer settings.

 Printing Tips

  • Use Organic / Tree Supports where needed.

  • A 0.10 mm layer height can provide a finer surface finish, but increases printing time.

  • Check the mounting fit before use. Small dimensional differences between printers can affect the fit.

Create Your Own Custom Shifter Knob!

Want to design your own shifter knob? You can use the Ballshifter part 1    as a starting point and create your own design in Onshape or another CAD program.

Thread design reference:

  • Original cylinder diameter before adding threads: 30 mm

  • Thread pitch: 2 mm

  • Thread generation: Created using Onshape's automatic thread tool

These are the dimensions I used when creating my threaded part. Depending on the thread settings and CAD tool you use, you may need to adjust your design to ensure a proper fit.

 Happy Printing!

If you print this model, I'd love to see your results! Share your makes, leave a like if you enjoy the design, and feel free to share your own tips and improvements.

Other Notes

All of these shift knobs are designed and made by me.

The Pagani_in_shifteris my own interpretation of a shift knob inspired by the Pagani Zonda F. I created the design using reference photos and estimated measurements, without access to official Pagani dimensions or measurements from other sources.

This is also my first time designing something like this, so I'm still learning and improving my CAD skills along the way!

I hope you enjoy the designs, and I'd love to see your prints, modifications, and ideas for improvement. Thanks for checking out my work!
