Themed Comic Book Box

About

This model has a footprint of 210 (d) x 190 (w) x 230 (h) mm. This is to be as deep as possible (maximising box size!) while fitting easily on a print bed. It's designed to be wide enough for a single standard-size comic issue with bag and board or TPB volume. Anything wider than 185 mm won't fit. 

There are currently 5 different models available: Batman, Star Trek (Voyager/DS9 era), X-Files, Star Wars, and plain/no theme. If you're interested in other themes let me know and I may be able to upload them as well! 

Print Settings

I recommend printing this with a fairly high infill/wall thickness. This increases weight to avoid the box tipping over, and rigidity because when this is full the comics can be quite heavy. I printed one solid and one at about 80% infill, and the solid one is better in my opinion. 

Because this print has a large footprint, any warping will be noticeable. Although I usually have good build plate adhesion, I experienced some warping in the corners of my first print, which was easily resolved by gluing the surface of my build plate. Fine-tuning your bed levelling and temperature may also help resolve this. 

I used supports when printing the Star Trek and X-Files ones; use your best judgement on whether they're required for the design you're printing + your printer's capabilities, but I'd recommend using them. This is a fairly long print so better safe than sorry in my view!

On my Creality K1 with standard PLA, this took 11 hrs 9 min and 645 g filament.
