Modular Desk Clamp System – Base + 4 Interchangeable Modules

A simple, strong and expandable modular desk clamp system designed for everyday use.

The idea is simple:
print one desk clamp and use it with multiple interchangeable modules.

The modules slide onto the same interface, so you can quickly change the function of the holder without printing another complete clamp.

The current version includes the main desk clamp, compatible screw and four different modules.

Included Parts:

🟢 Modular Holder Desk Clamp
The main base of the entire system.

🔵 Phone Holder
Simple phone holder for keeping your phone next to your desk and easily visible.

🟠 Hook / Headphone Holder
Universal hook designed primarily for headphones, but it can also be used for cables, small bags, accessories and many other items.

🟤 Small Storage Box
A small box for screws, USB adapters, SD cards, tools and other small items that usually disappear somewhere on the desk.

⚪ Cup Holder
Designed for cups, cans and similar containers. It keeps the drink outside the main desk area and frees up workspace.

⚫ Clamp Screw
Large printable screw for fixing the clamp to the desk.

Modular Design

All attachments use the same mounting interface.

This means that once the desk clamp is installed, you only need to print another module and slide it into place.

No need to print another complete holder.

More modules are planned for this system in the future.

The goal is to create a growing collection of useful attachments using one universal desk mounting system.

Compatibility With the Previous Version

The clamp screw is compatible with my previous holder design, so if you already printed the screw from the previous version, you can reuse it with this modular system.

This also works the other way around – the screw included with this model can be used with the previous version.

Custom Desk Thickness

The current clamp is designed for the desk thickness used in my setup.

If your desk or board has a different thickness, just leave a comment with the required dimension.

I can modify the clamp for your desk thickness while keeping the same attachment interface and modules.

This means that only the green desk clamp needs to change – all existing modules remain compatible.

Printing

All tested print orientations and recommended slicer settings are already included in the supplied 3MF files.

Simply open the appropriate 3MF file and the model should already be positioned in the recommended printing orientation.

Important – Desk Clamp Orientation

For the Modular Holder Desk Clamp, I recommend printing the clamp on its side.

This orientation gives the clamp better strength because the layer direction is more suitable for the forces created when the clamp is tightened onto the desk.

For a functional part like this, layer orientation is more important than saving a small amount of support material.

Recommended Materials

The prototypes shown in the photos were printed as functional parts.

Recommended materials:

• PLA – suitable for normal/light use

• PETG – recommended for stronger and more durable parts

• ASA/ABS – suitable if higher temperature resistance is required

• TPU can also be used later for optional soft contact surfaces or protective pads

Use enough perimeters and infill for the desk clamp and screw because these are the parts carrying the mechanical load.

Supports

Minimal supports are required for this model. Unfortunately, it cannot be printed completely support-free due to the geometry.

The included PrusaSlicer 3MF files already contain the recommended print orientation and support settings.

When using Anycubic Slicer or another slicer, please check and enable supports manually where needed.

Each 3MF file contains the recommended orientation and slicer setup used for my test prints.

Why I Designed It

I wanted one strong desk-mounted base that could be reused for many different purposes.

Instead of printing several completely different desk clamps, the clamp stays permanently installed and only the attachment is changed.

The first modules are intentionally simple and practical, but this mounting system makes it very easy to design additional attachments.

More modules will follow.
