🦅 About the Pterodactyl
Name: Pterodactyl means "winged finger" – its wings were made of skin stretched from a very long fourth finger.
Not a dinosaur: Pterodactyls were flying reptiles called pterosaurs – close cousins of the dinosaurs that lived alongside them.
Lived: About 150 million years ago, in the Late Jurassic, in what is now Europe.
Diet: It swooped over lagoons and shores, catching fish and small creatures with its long beak.
🌍 Fun Facts
✈ Pterosaurs were the first animals with backbones to fly – long before birds or bats.
🦴 Their bones were hollow and light, which helped them glide through the air.
🔍 Pterodactylus was the very first pterosaur ever named, back in the early 1800s.
Perfect for dinosaur fans, small-world play, sensory bins, shelf decoration and gifts – collect it together with the T-Rex, the Brontosaurus, the Ankylosaurus, the other dinosaurs and the volcano! 🌋✨
