One of my 2016 MK7 GTI cargo cover hinges broke, but the deck/cover was fine so I kept using it. Then the hinge on the other side broke. Which meant the cargo deck/cover would “float” on the strings and bounce around as I drove and kinda impossible to get things in and out of the trunk/hatch. Quite annoying and I just started leaving the cover at home. I didn't want to loose the privacy/invite people to break in to the car. So I designed some replacements that allow the deck cover to seat into the factory posts, but not be permanently attached. Just like the originals, but designed to be printed and reprinted as necessary.
Print them flat surface down. With one clamp piece for each hinge piece. Let them cool down before removing from the bed after printing to keep them from warping. Put the hinge part through the cargo deck/cover and then put the clamp piece on the inside. One peg at a time, with firm pressure, rock the clamp back and forth to push it on to the peg. Then go to the next, and then the next. To remove if the hinge breaks, just use a flathead/slotted screwdriver and twist to pry the pieces apart.
If the hinge breaks, you can print more. As these parts are intended to be in a hot car and need to not deform, I printed them in ASA. Regular PLA will not work for these parts. ABS or possibly the High Temperature PLA, but I really enjoy working with ASA. So that is what I chose. Hopefully, if you have a MK7 Golf or any other VW that uses a similar cargo cover to the MK7, hopefully this part works for you too.
