Assembly:

Base:

  • Place the M3 inserts for mounting the sides
  • Place the M2.5 inserts for mounting the RPI and the LED mount
  • Mount LED strip to LED mount
  • Use 2x 2.5mm screws to mount LEDs
  • Use 3x 2.5mm screws to mount RPI
  • Connect LEDs
  • Mount sides using 8x 3mm screws (The logo side includes the difuser and difuser shield)
  • Optional the support material in the base can be removed to route the cables
  • Add the rubber pads

Roll:

  • Use the M4 screws to mount the lock to the roll (Optional a ball bearing can be used) When using a ball bearing the roll may unwind itself. If this happens you can tighten the M4 screw or remove the ball bearing.
Cooling:

Tested with the Raspberry PI 3 B+ without problems. But the board gets pretty hot with the upside mounting position and no airflow. For the model RPi 4 forced cooling probably will be necessary.

OctoPrint plugin:

Use the excellent  “WS281x LED Status” plugin to control the led strip.

Tested with the SK6812W leds. Reduce the brightness to reduce power and extend lifetime LEDs
