In a live stream about his Sky Force kickstarter Joe Larson, the 3D Printing Professor, mentioned that it might be cool to print the parts at 150% (24mm) scale but lamented that fact that he had a large inventory of 100% (16mm) parts. So I created “step connectors” by combining two half connectors with different scales.
These connectors must be printed with supports under the 100% (16mm) half. I have had good luck using Simplify 3D with 0.2 layer height and supports for the first 1.2mm and no supports above that. Support infill 30, extra inflation 2.0, support base 1, max overhang 85, horizontal offset 0.80 and upper separation layer 1. The supports pull away easily.
Because I occasionally have adhesion problems with small parts, I usually print my connectors with strips to assist with adhesion. The strips can be removed using an exacto knife or scissors.
The conn100.stl is just a copy of the original connector published by the 3D Printing Professor.
