The Happy Cable Ender 3 electronics Case

This case is the result of me being too picky about the internal cable routing in the ender 3 electronics case. As a result of having organised cables, it allows for amazing airflow, so that the CPU temp of the RPi never exceeds 45C.

Another feature is the compatibility with the ender 3 cable chain by jonniewhiskey on thingiverse. Print 17 Cable chain links.

It holds a standard Ender 3 MCU board (e.g. Creality ender 3 boards, BTT skr E3 series, and more…) and on the left side you will find a neat little nest for your Raspberry Pi 4.

This case can also house a total of 3 Buck converters:

  • Two Low Duty adjustable Buck converters for the fans
  • One CHUNKY adjustable Buck Converter for the RPi

The nitty gritty

The case is designed to be only used with M3 hardware. On the M3 versions of the cases this is true. However you will need to enlarge the mounting holes on the RPi since they are suited for M2.5. If you happen to have suitable M2.5 Bolts, get the M2.5 version.

The case uses Zip Ties to secure the cables down of which I used a total of 6.

After installing the case, you will need to install raiser feet for the ender 3 to raise it a little bit.

Nuts and Bolts

7 x M3*6 Bolts

6 x M3*16 Bolts

4 x M4*8 Bolts

Installation

The installation of the case is pretty similar to Teaching Tech's case. The only extra thing is securing down your cables with Zip Ties through the holes on the base. His amazing video:

After pushing the case in, align the holes on the covers with the cable bundles and push the covers in. Secure the covers using 3 M3 Bolts each. Use the Extrusion Covers to prevent the case from sliding out.
