I am a geocacher and I often do bicycle trips. For my old Samsung S3 mini I had a bicycle holder which was a water tight pouch which could be attached to the handle bar.
Now I have an Ulefone Armor, an IP68 smartphone. It is significantly larger than my old phone so that I could not use the old holder. I found a similar pouch at the Swedish store Biltema - but the thick plastic window made operation difficult, and why put an IP68 smartphone into an IP67 pouch?

How I Designed This
Re-using the commercial handlebar mount
The handlebar mount from the Biltema holder is robust and has some amount of shock-absorption built-in. I originally also liked the design of the removable mechanism on the backside of the pouch, which would lock the pouch in place.
The mounting point itself is a 30mm x 30mm plate, 2mm thick on a narrower stem.I then started with construction of the tray which should hold the smartphone in place. I thought of different locking mechanisms, partly inspired by other Things. However, I realized that I could arrest the phone very stable if I gave it a full support on the bottom part, not covering the pushbuttons and a locking rubber band for support at the top.
The phone itself rests with its back in a recess, which gives additional stability.
For the locking mechanism, I partly rebuilt the original mechanism with a plastic spring, but instead of a moveable plastic part I am using the solid back of the phone to lock the attachment piece firmly in its place as long as the phone is mounted.
The protruding anchor points for the rubber band and for the attachment of the lower part of the phone should also give the phone additional protection in case something fails. I have tested the holder on slightly bumpy roads - and so far I am very confident with this design.
It should not be a big problem to design a handlebar anchor for this holder, but I will continue to use the one which I already have.
Since I attach the (fully) parametric OpenSCAD files it should also be possible to adapt the tray to any other smartphone. However, if you don't have an IP68-class phone you should remember that you don't have any protection against rain.
