Custom Drawer for Ender 3 Pro

Overall

  • These are drawers that contain an assortment box system allowing for a customizable layout. This allows you to change the layout by swapping containers rather than having having a fixed wall that can only be changed by reprinting the entire drawer.
  • It is a modular grid system of containers that can be combined to make different sizes. The base size is a 1x1 (20mmx20mm) ranging from different combinations. 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, 3x4, etc.
  • There is a piece called “Allen Key Lid that sits on top of a 2x6 container and places the Allen keys that come with the printer an easily accessible location. (This part can only fit if placed in the bottom drawer.)

Updates! (long overdue)

  • Now including handles that do not require support!
    • Look for the drawer in the drawer folder with “ - Supportless ” name attached.

Printing Information

  • Nozzle - 0.4 or 0.6
  • Quality - Low
  • Orientation - Print as shown in image below. The opening for the drawers should be facing up with the back touching the build plate. This avoids your printer having to make supports or do bridging.

Important Info for Install

  • If you have moved the electronics to a new position opening up the front left, there is  drawers for the left side allowing you to double your drawer space! (As seen with the example photo of my printer)
  • There is a hole at the front of the drawer case for a screw and a T-nut. This is to prevent the drawer case from sliding back and forth. It is designed to fit the T-nut and bolts that come with the printer.
  • Ensure that the bolts that hold the bed to the bottom rollers have the head facing the bottom and the nut is on top. This makes enough clearance for the bed to pass without colliding with the drawers. (An image of what is being described is located in the Photos section.

Drawers

  • The Top Drawer has a grid system going up to a 4x7
  • The Bottom Drawer has a grid system going up to 5x7
    • The bottom drawer has a SD card holder. (3 Standard SD cars slots and 4 Micro SD card slot)
  • In addition both drawers have a small miscellaneous sot in the back for thin and small items.

Parts/Naming Scheme

  • Left / Right Case - This is the case that holds the drawers
  • Upper / Lower Drawer - This is the draw for either the small upper slot or large low spot
  • Left / Right Drawer - A drawer designated for the left or right case. This is an aesthetic choice so the handles are mirrored. Left vs Right are the same dimensions and work either way.
  • # x # - This is the modular container and the number is the corresponding to the number of tiles wide and long the container is

Miscellaneous Explanation

The extra sides on the back and walls are simply due to leftover space in trying to fit a grid system into the set space of the drawer. Making it smaller and being able to evenly fit a grid system(and use up that space) made the base size too small to be useful; forcing you to go up in sizes which ended up giving you less room. Going the other way, and making it bigger, made it too big to the point you might as well just print a wall and call it a day.

Enjoy

If you would like to see any changes or have recommendations, please leave a comment so I can improve the drawer system!
