This model is a design made to proudly display a collection Swiss Army Knives. Don't hide your collection in a drawer where no one can see them. Put them on out in the open for all to see.
All the parts for this model print really fast and no supports needed.
Build considerations:
This model needs at least two knives for balance if you display them outwards. Also, you can maybe get 6 knives on the stand, but it may become unstable (depending on the knife models). After some experimentation four seems to work best.
There are two different front scales, one with through holes and the other press fits onto the heads of the bolt (the head of the bolt is hidden from the front view )in the mounting bracket after securing the knife holders. When designed M3 bolts with 5X3mm heads were used. The length depends on how many knife holders you use (20mm will work if you put a total of 4 knife holders on the display)
The cross is very tight to fit in to it's position. Some nice soft wood on either side and a few taps with a “persuader” aka hammer will make it flush.
The mounting bracket .3mf and gcode files have a color change so it can better match the base. You may want to take this out if you don't need it or just slice it yourself.
The holes in the parts are pretty tight, I do this so the arms of the knife holders stay a bit stiffer and resist movement better. You may want to open them up a little more if you find the assembly a bit challenging.
There are two Mounting Bases, a large and a small you only need to print one of them, of the two bases, the larger base is more stable.
There are three different size knife holders, 2.5x14.5mm, 2.5x16mm and 2.5x18mm. The "Can Opener" blade is a good choice as it is short and robust. You will want to measure your knives to see which one best fits the blades on you knives as the can opener is different on Victorinox and Wegner brands.
